Thank you - the longer I have chickens the less I am saddened by a passing…not to say it doesn’t effect me, but I’m more at peace with it. I just know better than to get super high producing hens from now on because while I love the eggs, I don’t like only having 3/4 years with my hens

Sorry for the loss of your hen @HippieAtHeart and yours @SmiYa0126 I lost a few hens early on and I started doing a necropsy at home on all that I lost, just to see if I could find any signs of what might have been wrong. I learned a lot doing that. The state vet lab do very thorough ones with histology and testing, and can usually give you reasons why they were ill.
