I had coturnix at my old house where I kept them in a garage that was climate controlled. At the new smaller place, I would not have been able to put AC in the garage due to there being no way to vent it. So it was far too hot for them, and I gave them to a friend who had a better situation for them.
I really miss having quail though, and our climate is not well suited to keeping them outside in the summer. I am looking at button quail that maybe could stay in the house.
Would you show me your indoor button quail situations? How well can you manage the smell indoors, and do they make the same sounds as the coturnix hens? I miss the little cooing and chortling noises of my little hens.
Thanks!
