I jus checked one of my hens and she is crawling with lice/mite type bugs!! what should i do?? and any idea what would be the best pesticide to use for this treatment?? i seen this on the internet and was going to purchase but can i spray it on the hens?? http://www.chicken-house.co.uk/acatalog/Smite_5_Litre_Red_Mite_Control.html

I think that stuff is just for the coop, so you shouldn't spray it on the chickens.

At most farm supply stores, there is a powder that you can buy to put on your chickens. You should treat all of your chickens, just in case.

Go to the feed store and ask for Sevin dust for fleas, mites, and lice. Just put it in a piece of pantyhose, hold the bird upside down, and pat her all over to get the dust under her feathers. You also need to dust the coop/roost and I would dust the other birds lightly just in case.

i got some spray!! sprayed the coop yday after noon il give the hens a check again at the weekend!! how long do these sprays etc normal take to work??
