OK so out of sheer desperation I had to change out my pine shavings for pine pellets in my coop and it is working fantastic so far. I'm a scooper and that was causing a huge problem with my over flowing compost pile. I don't have acres and acres of land. I have a good size yard but ran out of room for compost. I've been using pine pellet sawdust for 3 yrs in my run (covered run) and have been happy with the results so I put it in my coop. It's been a month and I love it so far. My coop is 6x6 and I put 1 processed bag in it. It made it about 2-3 inches deep. It does not seem to be anymore dusty then the pine shavings were. Maybe even less.
I did have one girl that did not like it at first but after convincing her it was not hot lava she was fine.
I took a couple of before cleaning and after.
