possible new additions but worried about the roo

Proper quarantine is three to four weeks in a cage on the other side of your property, with the chickens separated, and yours contained as needed to keep them separated. Feed and care for yours first ALWAYS and wash your feet/footgear after every trip to visit the new birds. After the third or fourth week, you take a healthy bird (good use for a spare cockerel) from your flock and put it with the new birds. Leave the old bird in with the new birds for a MINIMUM of two weeks, preferably three weeks, to see if the old bird gets sick from the new ones. If nothing happens in this six or so week period, you can call the quarantine done and open the territory.
