Possible Roo?

Pics
Awww! They're beautiful. You'll potentially end up with some blue or green eggs once they start laying too! That's amazing she's doubled in size. They're very lucky to have you :)
Ginger should lay blue, and Bella is supposed to be an olive egger. Tilly should lay white, and Holly should lay some shade of dark brown (she’s only half BCM, so will be interesting to see whether she lays a darker red/brown).

I can’t wait to see what kind of eggs we get - but honestly, I’m mainly just delighted that I can keep them.

Next project is a chicken garden and enlarging their run!😁

Doing some free ranging while I knit and keep an eye out for hawks 🥰

I’ll post an update on this thread once we start getting eggs!

I thought I’d share some update pics - the girls are now 6 months old and Tilly seems close to laying (wattles and comb are big and red, and she started squatting for us this week). Most importantly they’re healthy, happy, and well loved 🥰

@Overo Mare , @3KillerBs , @Rhodebar Lover , @Finnie and everyone else who so kindly guided me through the first few months of owning chickens - thank you all so much!! Your advice was invaluable to this nervous new chicken mama 🙂

They've turned out absolutely beautiful.

Got our very first egg this morning! A week before the girls turn 6 months old.

I thought I heard Tilly trying to crow this morning, turns out she was just kicking off her laying career with a rather unique egg song 😂 it’s a typical tiny first egg, but I couldn’t be a prouder chicken mama ♥️

Another update from my happy little flock (who are thriving largely thanks to the advice and encouragement from this thread!)

Bella laid her first egg this afternoon - after much nesting, scraping and several egg songs of encouragement from the rest of the flock! 🥰 A perfect dark olive green:

As an aside, Tilly has stopped laying - she gave us a couple of lovely almost XL sized white eggs, and then one day woke up and decided she was actually a boy 😂 she doesn’t try to mount any of the others, but her posture is very rooster-ish, and she’ll attempt to crow a few times a week (emphasis on “attempt”, the results are pretty hilarious 🤣). From this forum I know it isn’t uncommon in roosterless flocks although I wish she (they?🤪) would get back to laying!

Ginger has been holding down the fort with her 5-6 lovely sky blue eggs a week, but Bella and Holly have both been squatting and inspecting the nest boxes for a few weeks, and now that Bella has starting laying, I’m hoping her bestie, Holly - our alleged BCM - will follow suit in the next few days!🤞🏼very interested to see what shade we get from her.
