raising a couple layers with the meatie

I'm planning on ordering some meaties and would like to raise a few layers as well. I've never kept layers before. Can this be done in the same pen, or do I need to separate?

I don't personally know anybody that keeps them in the same pen. I would suspect that the layers would pick on more docile, slower birds like Cornish X.

Yesterday, I was reading management recommendations from one of our local hatcheries and they were suggesting beak trimming for layers kept alongside broilers.
