Rooster becoming aggressive suddenly

I have a rooster that I’ve had ever since he was a tiny baby, and he’s always been a nice chicken. He used to get hit, pecked at and injured a lot by our other roosters (which we no longer have) and now all of a sudden he’s hitting our rooster back and becoming aggressive. is this because of when he used to get hit or is there something else going on?

Low ranked birds are always trying to improve their position in the pecking order. The more mature they become the more likely they will try.

A lot of people’s opinions are “no blood no foul”

If there aren’t serious injuries and it’s not significantly disturbing the well-being of the flock, probably just normal behavior that will work itself out.

This is assuming it’s just aggression with the other chickens. Increased aggression to people is another thing entirely.
