I have 2 roosters. 1 is an Americana mix, the other is a Delaware mix. The Americana don't crow very often. But my Delaware I swear crows for 10 minutes every hour. He wasn't this vocal a week ago. I'm worried my neighbors will complain. One of our other neighbors has a rooster that crows but not very often. I've read some threads and a lot seem against collars which that makes me not want one. I don't mind that he crows but want to tone down how often. It's mostly during the day that he does it. Advice?

I don't know of any way to "tone down" a crowing rooster, but I think you are right to avoid the collar. Has anything changed in his environment that makes him suddenly more vocal?

If I had a solution, I might encourage Sir Henry the Loud, my Iowa Blue, not to engage in crowing contests with Billy Boy, a Cochin Bantam, in the wee, dark hours of the morning. Luckily, I am the only one they are disturbing.
