We've never hatched baby chicks (bought them from the hatchery). We only have one white silkie rooster, and the rest are hens from Hoovers Hatchery, including ISA Brown, Calico Princess, Sapphire Gem, Silver Laced Wyandotte, French BCM, Welsummer (maybe), Australorp, White Jersey Giant, and maybe some other breeds in there. Would it make sense to try to hatch baby chicks with those combos? Will the chicks be healthy? Will the chicks be fertile or "mules"?

They would just be little barnyard mixes. Because of the unique silkie features, hard to tell what you'd get exactly but it could be interesting. The chicks should be healthy, though.

You never know what girls the roo will like. My silkie roos favorite girl is a big brahma. :idunno

our only rooster in a fluffy white silkie roo roo and he's the best rooster we've ever had! He's a great lookout and keeps the flock together. He's also small so he doesn't overwhelm the hens when he mates them. silkie roo roos are also the nicest roosters I've ever seen because they never attack dogs, children, or anything else
