Hello! I have an interesting surprise. I ordered eggs from a friend and they were supposed to be felder mixed with jersey giant. When they were hatching... Two chickens clearly different were amongst them. 5 toes. There's very few chickens with 5 toes. She has no silkies which was my first guess. Just this strange looking roo.

She showed me the possible culprit of the chicks but I can't tell what he is. Sultan Chicken are usually solid white but he's not. I'll show the rooster and chicks. Let me know what you think, guy's!

Hi there, hope you are enjoying BYC! :frow

He's *possibly* a Silkie cross (IMO), indicated by the crest and dark skin in addition to the beard, 5 toes and partly walnut looking comb modified with those V's (maybe some Polish in the background noting the also white ear lobes).. crosses will be hard feathered. Bred back to Silkie, he MIGHT produce 50% silkied offspring. One way or another that sire is not pure bred (as far as I can tell) and his tail position is known as squirrel tail (accepted perhaps in the Serama breed but considered undesirable in most others) just for discussion purposes. I know it won't matter much barnyard/backyard crosses

The chick also has dark skin.

Cute babies. :love
