I have a bantam flock of mostly feather footed birds. I've noticed several of them as well as my clean legged roo has lifted scales and crusty looking feet. I have elector psp and am planning on doing a 10 min soak on each bird. So my question is, I've also noticed what appears to be lice eggs on one girl, will the soak take care of that or so I need to go ahead and do a separate spray bottle vent spritz to treat the lice? I also have 2 babies that are about 12 weeks old is it OK to treat them with a soak?

Scaly leg mites and body lice or mites are treated differently. Scaly leg mites are treated with soaking the legs, and then slathering vaseline or other thick oil one to two times a week for several weeks until new scales grow in. Here are some different methods to treat SLM:

Permethrin garden dust or spray are very good for body lice or mites. Lice are treated at least twice at 10 day intervals, while mites are treated at least twice every 7 days. Elector PSP is a more expensive treatment. It is sprayed on. Here is some info on lice and mites:

Scaly mites is treated the same way as red mites.I haven't had any success using oil but it relieves the pain when applied liberally on the feet and legs. They can get scaly mites on the face and other areas and lose feathers. I treat it with Ivermectin .You won't see a big improvement until the next molt when they grow new feathers and scales.

Edit:
Vaseline is $4-5 for a large container and doesn't last long. The Pour on Ivermectin for cattle is easier to dose and applied directly to the skin. One bottle will last a long time.(I have used a pea size dose of Ivermectin for horses)
