Turning eggs without an auto egg turner

Did I read something about it being important to turn the eggs end over end rather than just rolling them along their "equator?" Can things really get twisted up inside? Ann

If you dont have an egg turner, and I dont..lay them with the larger end up a little....and I just turn mine half way, very slowly, as to not harm the embryo. Side to side.
