What to use to mark hatching eggs?

I've marked several of my quail eggs with a Sharpie, but it's usually when transitioning to lock down.

That's also when I candle them.

Is there any particular spot to mark the eggs to not ruin the bloom?
I've washed many many many eggs and never had any problems. Washing eggs as I collect them and put them in an egg carton pointy end down marked with a sharp if needed while waiting for a clutch size. After 12 or so take those eggs and stick under a broody hen with 100% hatch rate.
And that's my own experience not what I've read on the net
