Hi all, Ive been wandering around hatchery sites and I'm hoping that someone could explain to me what the differences are in these colorations.
Silver Duckwing (bantam)
Silver (leghorn, Plymouth rock, Dorkings etc)
Dark (brahma).
Is there any difference that I'm not seeing (highly possible ) or are they the same?
Thank you !

So, I don’t know a ton about colors and patterns, but hopefully I can explain this correctly.
Silver is a pattern/color, as in the leghorn, rock, etc.
Being called Duckwing, which has its own varieties within itself, I believe means the ends of the wing match the color of the tail..??
There’s silver duckwing, chocolate duckwing, etc.

Check out some pics on Google of silver duckwing, especially males. Notice the edges of the wing, and how they’ll be the same color as the saddle or tail.

Maybe someone else can help explain.
I’m still learning. Lol

Silver is just an older name that breeders use for birds with the silver gene. It can mean a number of things and is pretty breed specific.
Silver Sebrights aren’t the same as silver Leghorns aren’t the same as silver Campines.
Silver duckwing very particularly refers to the phenotype e+e+SS. (Birds with wild type AKA duckwing and the silver gene.
Silver Leghorns are silver duckwing, just like silver duckwing OEG.
