Wheat straw in run

I purchased a bale of organic wheat straw (it has wheat grains in it). Can I give my pullets a small bunch of it in the run and how often should I remove the straw to avoid any possible mold or health issues?

Sure, as something for them to do, great. Straw bedding is a pain, but this sounds fine.

I toss a flake or two of straw or hay out to the chickens all the time. I don't think it provides much in the way of food, but they love digging through it, so it's good for chicken exercise and entertainment.

I don't bother removing it. It breaks down very quickly and I've never seen or worried about moldy hay in the run.

Agree. Entertaining, some food value, not messy.

Whatever I use straw for, the chickens always go through it and get the wheat or oat seeds/groats. If it should get moldy they won't eat it.
