Will fire ants hurt my chickens?

I just discovered a trail of fire ants and was wondering if chickens eat fire ants or should I be concerned that they bite my chickens?
I will try to kill the ants tomorrow but just in case I don't get everyone I just want to know if the chickens would be okay?

there is a current thread about fire ants in the "predators and pests" category.

In NS, you don't have the really dangerous fire ants, so unless they are very young chicks nesting on the ground, I wouldn't be concerned.

I also don't think they'll eat the ants; from what I've observed, very few things do. I have accidentally eaten a couple, and they are quite bitter.
