Okay, so I have several RIR X light Brahma crosses. I was advised months ago that these *should* be sexable by color- males would be white, females red.

But these two should-be-pullets have me questioning the accuracy of that. They're from a staggered hatch, and are anywhere between 13-14 weeks old.

Pullet 1 has a very roo-y backside to me, although I don't *think* I see any true saddle feathers. Her comb is pretty pink, but pale compared to pullet 2's and the cockerel's.

Pullet 2's comb just seems awfully pink to me, although still not as bright and pronounced as my cockerel's, so maybe it's just the way she is. Her feathers seem more neat and rounded than pullet 1's, but still worry me a little. Lol

I'd love some confirmation as to whether I was misinformed, or if these are in fact females who are just being extra sneaky lol.

Pics of both girls and my cockerel from the same hatch for comparison :)

Both red/gold ones look like pullets to me.

It is genetically impossible for a Light Brahma hen to produce a son with that red/gold color, no matter what rooster is the father. So the only way to get cockerels of that color is if you hatch eggs from a different hen.

Thank you!! The first one was really making me nervous 🤣
