What I used on my sumatras crosses was a large aseel,I thought it was shamo but after I get to know more about orientals my knowledge told me my blend was Sumatra aseel.
You can use shamo,aseel grade the best will be Thais grades.
What i did was find black orientals that were similar in feather color,legs color. To void others color on the black .
To improve feather length i used a Sumatra x phoenix on a black aseel hen f2 went back to my pure sumatras.
You keep throwing your blends back to your pure sumatras until you are close to what you want then the final process is create more families.
