Obvious… was it the pronounced comb or behavior? I have 2 (2wks) and neither have much tail feathering, tiny combs very similar size with 1 very slightly pinker.
I vote #1 is the legbar. They are more of a gray chipmunk. I’ve had grayish chipmunks, yellow/brown chipmunks, and more orange-ish/brown chipmunks. The legbars end up being the gray, the PBB and olive Egger were the hybrids.
Update- It’s been 4+ months now. After the freaky weird egg, she hasn’t laid any. I quit giving calcium. I gave up on her. She eats what everyone else does, no special treatment. And then, she laid 2 perfect aqua eggs in the last 3 days!!! 🤗🤗 I have no idea what’s going on🤯 But I’m very happy😁
This cream legbar hen laid a normal turquoise egg for a couple months. Then she started laying these ultra thin shelled eggs. For the last three months, we always find them crushed or smashed or half eaten in the coop. The last four days, I’ve given her a calcium citrate pill every day. My 11...
Ha, that’s the funny thing! She looks like a rooster… that happens to lay an egg.😆 Bet she could have confused many in one of those threads: Is this a pullet or cockerel?”😜
So you’re saying that Rooster lays an egg?!?! 😅 Crazy! That’s some serious head gear! Well, your little pullets look just like my little girls. Hoovers really messed things up this 🙄
So. These are the dark chipmunks and the lighter, yellow chipmunk at 5 weeks. The lighter seems to be a Sapphire Olive Egger (Hoovers hybrid is supposed to have a crest). The darker? I wish they were Legbars, but they look too orange! And no crest (but my adult legbar doesn’t have a crest either).
MyPetChicken declared it was just an imperfection, a random recessive allele. 😜 The plumage was right, and the egg was a beautiful turquoise. So she’s simply a Cream Legbar. Hoping my 2 new chicks turn out to be CRESTED Cream Legbars. ☺️
