Got our five chicks from Meyer this morning. Of the five, two are thriving, the other three are barely alive. Attempting to revive them with a mix of egg yolk, green tea and chick saver given to them with a baby dropper on the side of their beaks. Have them under the brooder plate. Anything else...

The girls dust bathe outside, and during the winter, they pushed aside the hay in the run to use the sand. Ordered some spray for the roots and the coop area just now. Thanks for your help!

I cleaned out the entire coop and run on Tuesday. Raked out the pine shavings in the coop, sprayed with bleach water, and lice killer. Same with the run. All the grass/hay is gone. Used DE in both areas. The other girls so far are okay when I checked them. Sprayed anti bacterial spray on her...

Ick

We have a nine month old New Hampshire that has been a good layer for a while now. Today I noticed that the feathers around her vent are gone, and the skin is bright red. She lays about every two days, is eating and drinking and acting like her usual self. None of the other girls have this issue...

While this mild weather has been nice, it’s killing businesses up here in the northern counties. With no snow, we don’t have sledders coming up to visit our stores, bars and restaurants. We had a blizzard warning up here as well. Turned out to be high winds, very little snow. Complete reverse of last winter, where we had 100”. Now with these frogid temps, the girls are in the run, and not happy about it.

Happy New Year! Winter has decided to make its appearanc, and we have a dusting of snow, and cloudy days in the high teens and mid 20’s. Girls are not liking being stuck in the run all day.

I did butcher him, but after looking at how dark the meat was, and how tough it was, we tossed it.
