The leg cannot extend fully. He's walking on his hocks.
My other chick wasn't malformed.
This one seems to have very short legs. 34 other chicks are happy and healthy.
Not really. I set 41 eggs.
2 didn't develop.
39 into lockdown.
2 eggs didn't hatch
1 died mid hatch on Monday
1 died this morning
Now this one.
Everyone that has moved over is healthy and happy.
Great thank you. I gave a little yolk forgot to add the sugar. I have never had one so tired. Its only my second hatch so I still don't know what I'm doing....
Hey all
I have a chick just hatched today. Day 23. She pipped yesterday evening so I did help her this afternoon and removed the shell. Kept the membrane moist. She hatched and has barely moved.
I know her odds are poor. At this small can I try egg yolk?
Tia
They all make noise at once and I live on a highway so I can never tell who sounds like what lol. That and they always run away.
So just that little flick up is considered a curl. Maybe I will grab a milk crate and go sit out there with them for a bit this week and see what I notice....
Thank you
Hi all
I was given 10 runner ducks in August. They are just over a year old and although very funny to watch they are very frightened of everyone and just run away even when I'm not in the run.
The days after we got them we werw getting 4 eggs, then 2 then 1. I know with chickens any change...
Any idea what is wrong with this chicken and what I can do to help her?
I have brought her inside in a crate with bedding andnjust getting her food now.
Can a day old have coccidiosis?
I'm in Ontario Canada and will likely have to go thru a vet to get it....not sure I can get an appt soon enough.
I'll see if anyone local has some....
hey all
i had a hen go missing a few weeks ago and thought she had been taken by a fox or coyote but it turns out she was sitting on 24 eggs in my front yard and i somehow never noticed her.
i came home from the store and found her in the front yard with a baby...
so i went on a hunt to find...
It looks a bit blue in the middle and a bit swollen. I'll try to get her in a crate in the am. With s dish for food and water.
I already have a flock mate in the house who was trampled as a day old and stayed in the house a week and has been named and is a house chicken now.....
So I feel like I just have failure after failure......and feeling very defeated as a chicken tender.
When we moved our chicken tractor last night the ground was very wonky and a broiler got her foot stuck. She seemed fine (I know they hide injury)
This morning I noticed her limping but was...
Last night I went out to my meat chickens and noticed one of my layers ruffled and staring not moving.
***graphic pic below***
I kept an eye while I did food and water foenthe meats and she didn't move. I stopped and turned and she had turned around And I saw this
I have never had prolapse...
Hey everyone
I bought a batch of week old chicks and when I unpacked noticed one had a bad leg.
I think it is a slipped tendon. Her name is Robin. I did try to do the chick chair thing but she constantly escaped it. I decided since she was getting food and water and getting around that I would...
So she is standing more and more and walking but is this normal for rehab....or is this more neurological.
I have been putting her back with the others it doesn't take long before the roos gang up and start to pick on her.
