Sunday Morning Update

Winding down here. I removed the remaining unhatched eggs from Tamar's nest last night, candled, and put them in the incubator, but they didn't look viable. HOWEVER, some of the eggs that eventually hatched didn't look viable to me, either, so I will give them another day.

These are the two that were unhatched from the original incubator bunch:

The last incubator chick (on the left) is looking fluffier this morning, nothing like a good night's sleep under Foster Mom? ;)

Rahab looks like an old pro.
:love

I still feel like one of these two is a boy and one is a girl, fortunately I have a home for a boy if I end up with one.

I will be thrilled if I have as good a hatch as you did, or even if I best the two that I got on the last one
So big, wow!

I plan to keep the best cockerel or two since it will add genetic material to my flock. We'll see.

Nothing happening in the incubator, guess that's all.

I know I saw an article or thread with photos of candled eggs that didn't hatch, with explanations, but cannot find it.

Here's what didn't hatch

The eggs have been disposed of.

And one of Rahab's chicks died this afternoon.
:hit

It was just sitting in the nesting box about 3pm, not moving. I offered it water and mash, smearing some on its beak, but it refused to eat or drink. I managed to get it to take some vitamin B and D solution with a syringe. I placed it under Rahab to warm up.

About an hour later I found it buried under straw in the brooder.
:(
