Don't take anything I say to personally because I'm a newbie at this chicken stuff! I don't even know what an open air coop is! I'm just trying to help the site out by rating some coops. I like the fact that you have a fully encaged area to keep your chicks save. The ramp that leads to what I guess is the coop doesn't look right to me ~ if I were a chicken and wanted to quickly get to my coop for protection, this ramp wouldn't do it for me. I can't really see inside your coop, but to me it appears only the top is covered. Again, if I were a chicken, I wouldn't feel safe or secure. To me it would be the same as a burglar breaking into my home and expecting me to feel safe by putting a lampshade on my head. I hope you understand how hard it was for me to be honest ~ which is what the site asks for in this rating thing. I hope I didn't hurt your feelings and please know that if I did ~ it was Unintentional ….
Yes, you might want to consider tarping around their sleeping corders for the soon approaching fall, it'll begin to get cold, and to keep their health and egg production in it's best shape, they need to be cut off from major air flow.
