[FONT=comic sans ms,sand]We began our journey into being chicken owners on April 1, 2010. Our daughter often said that she wanted to have chickens and we have the land for it so we decided to learn about what was involved with keeping them. We thought it would be good for her to grow up knowing how to take care of and respect animals. My husband being from a long line of farmers was all on board in fact he had been thinking about it for awhile too. After about a year of learning and after building our first coop, we went to pick up our six....no wait...what's 2 more...ok 8.....maybe we should go get 2 more....alright we finally got 10 three day old chicks from the wonderful lady at our local feed store. She has had chickens her whole life and has given us great advice!
