The Lavender Orpington's

I got my Lavender Orpington's almost 8 months ago! They are really sweet and pretty! I am so glad that I got them! This is what each one looks like!

This is Quincy! He is my favorite! He started off as the smallest chick then grew into a large handsome rooster. We had ended up with 2 roosters but we decided that we were going to keep Quincy. Everyone said that he was the prettiest out of the 2. At first I wasn't sure if we should keep him or not because he was very skittish! He would run away from everything! It got on my nerves! I was almost ready to knock some sense into him! But he had a reason to be so afraid of everything. First, we had accidentally shut the chicken coop door in his face! He had one eye shut all the time! I felt so bad for him. I thought he would be blind in that one eye, but he somehow healed all by himself. And the second reason is that he almost got killed by raccoons! It happened so quickly! He was just out there eating bugs then he disappeared! We heard a lot of squawking and there was a bunch of feathers on the ground. We went looking for him, we feared that the raccoons had got him, but out of nowhere he comes running out of the bushes with a bloody face! That very moment he came running out of the bushes I knew he was a fighter! He had fought for his life a several times after that, but he is defiantly the best rooster I have ever had! He protects his ladies very well and treats them nicely! I am so glad we chose to keep him!

This is Ava! She is a very pretty hen! I am very happy that we ended up with such a pretty hen like her! She means a lot to me. She is one out of 4 chicks that were raised with my first broody hen. She was defiantly a mamas girl! She was always right next to her mother! She would even hitch a ride on top of her mothers back! She has grown up so much! I don't know what I would do without her! She is also very goofy! She likes to come up to me and pose right in front of the camera! Every now and then when she is not in my way she will strike a pose! Sometimes she will be in a really bad mood and try to peck at the camera when she sees it! She will even try pecking me if i'm not careful! But I still love her!

This is Ella! She is probably one of the most calmest hens I have ever seen! She rarely pecks any other chickens, and she is also very calm around people! When I add new chickens to the flock she won't even try pecking them! She simply waits until most of the chickens have accepted the newbie then she will come over and give the newbie a little peck. She is also very sweet. She has never pecked me ever! Not even by accident! She is a very stunning hen! Although its really hard to take pictures of her... I don't think she really likes the camera at all! Its that or she is not really good at posing.

This is Lexi! I got her when she was about 3 months old. She was very docile when I got her, after a month or so she stopped letting me hold her.. But that doesn't mean that she is afraid of me. She actually will come up to me and just sit there. I guess she just doesn't like being held or something. Anyways, she is a very kind hen! The problem I have with her is that she likes pecking me! Every time when I come out with food she will peck my hand and grab the food! That annoys me! Besides that, she is very tamed! Lexi laid her very first egg a couple of weeks ago! I am so proud of her!

This is Layla! I will admit, she is not the prettiest but that is what I got. I got her along with Lexi. She just laid her very first egg a couple a days ago! We had plans of breeding her, but now i'm not so sure. My rooster is having a hard time mating with her, and she isn't the prettiest hen at all... But I still love her! She doesn't like being held or petted. She wont even come close to me. Right now I am trying to earn her trust. I don't know why she is so afraid of people. Maybe she was traumatized at a young age... I really don't know..

This is Georgette! I got her not very long ago! She has been through a lot! When I first got her, she was getting pecked a ton! After a week of owning her she got injured! One of my hens got her pretty good! She had a big chunk of feathers and skin torn of her neck! She was in pretty bad condition! She is just now starting to grow her feathers back! Thank goodness! She still looks kinda scrawny.. But I don't care! She is actually very sweet! When she still had a big hole in her neck she would come running to me when some chicken pecked her! She always begged me to pick her up! I couldn't resist! I spoiled her a lot! Maybe to much! Now she demands attention! She is very funny!
