We're working on a coop - not ready for chickens, obviously, but in process. We've tried to use the advice we've gotten from here and there, which has been an interesting process since the one thing most of the people we've talked to agree on is that they don't agree! Here is what we have so far - PLEASE offer suggestions and advice! We've used pallets because we're terminally short on money (one boy in high school, and one in college and on his way to the Navy). We're in North Carolina, and it gets hot and humid here. The coldest we typically get is MAYBE a few nights where we get down to 20 degrees. (A big change for me from where I grew up in Wyoming!) We've been told by several people and hatcheries that the biggest issue is PLENTY of ventilation. The size (approximately, since nothing is exactly square), is 4x6 or so.

And here we have the finished coop! (Except the lathe on the ramp to give the chickens something to grip, that's coming this weekend.) We pick up our first 4 chickens on March 31, and two more on May 5!
