Trimming Your Chicken's Nails - Tutorial

I found this very helpful. I trimmed some of my hens nails for the first time today, and thanks to this article everything went smoothly and I didn’t hit the quick.
I needed this, glad it was here
Thank you fir this great article. I’m seeing a couple longer nails on two of my hens, and was thinking I could just nip them off. Good thing I read this so I don’t injure them!!
I used my own nail buffer earlier but as they grow their nail become thick and wide so I brought a dog nail clipper
I might have to try this on one of my old gals, her toe is twisting on its side because the nail is too long. Thank you!
Well written article and the photos and diagrams were helpful.
Excellent, clear no-nonsense instructional.
Especially for a new chicken owner who’s never had the pleasure of cutting nails on other pets or a squirming two year old child!

Very instructive article that has great points. Well set out & written.
Checking all nails
I keep patio stones in my run I think that helps with over growth, but I did not know what to look for before. Thank you I now imagine it would be like me breaking a finger nail and then having to scratch. I will pay better attention thank you for sharing.
