I feed my birds a mixed diet of layer, grower, vegetable garden scraps, a tiny bit of sweet feed as a treat, whole oats, and scratch feed. During wheat and corn harvest, I feed them the spilled wheat kernels and field corn
missed by the combines in addition to the layer. I have a lg bag of whole grain rice that got a hole torn in it. I know my "babies" grind up the hard wheat and corn in their crop, but was wondering if the rice would be ground up ok, or would turn into a gummy mess and get stuck in their crop? I hate to waste the rice as I know it's high in protein, and would rather not have to cook it for them before feeding, but I will if I have to. Forgot to mention they get bugs and grass too as they have a huge run to forage/play in. Thanks for any help you can give! Pat

They can have rice if it's COOKED.
