I have a RIR getting broody, sitting on about 6 eggs. After they hatch, I have facilities to raise them in until they are coop ready...but, how long until they are meat size? I'm thinking maybe 9 weeks?? I've only raised and acquired older chickens, starting at 12wks. Thanks in advance.

Most folks butcher a dual purpose breed like this around 18-22 weeks. That's when you get the most bang for your buck, so to speak. You can butcher earlier, of course, especially if they're becoming a pain to manage. You'll get a smaller, more tender bird. Some folks butcher at 13 ish weeks, not sure how large the carcass is but they've grilled those birds and had good results.
