I have one hen who used to lay nice eggs, but then she suddenly started laying eggs with squishy shells. I started feeding her a lot of ground-up eggshells, pulverized calcium + D pills, and put her on baby quail feed (30% protein) but two weeks later, no change. The other hems live in similar conditions, are the same age, and eat the same food and they are laying nice hard eggs like clockwork. Any thoughts on what else to do?

Egg shells should serve the same purpose as oyster shells. I'd continue doing what you do, perhaps adding some hard boiled egg to her diet just in case she is deficient in some specific amino acid or vitamin that's not in the feed. I'm not sure how long you should expect it to take, but if it doesn't get better within a month or so, perhaps it's more of a hormone thing - or whatever regulates the formation of egg shells. Possibly something you can't change or maybe something that'll just go away on its own.
