Was this a fertile egg??

Very new to keeping chickens

I have 2 pullets and 1 rooster (silkies)

They laid there first eggs the other day just cracked one and found this small red thing instead (in pic).

can any help me

The small red thing you can see is a blood or meat spot. Sometimes when the yolk is released from the ovary into the oviduct a piece of the lining can come away or tear which then becomes encased in the egg as it moves along the process. It's nothing to worry about and the eggs are fine to eat.
As for the egg being fertile you can tell this by looking at the little white dot/disc on top of the yolk. I can't quite see clearly from your pic but it looks to be fertile. If fertile the little dot/disc is called the blastoderm and is also often referred to as a bullseye. If infertile it's called the blastodisc. Hope these pics help so you can compare with your egg for sure.

They don't look fertile, but picture is not great. How old are your silkies?
