My favorite is the 1984 publishing by Scandinavia Publishing House of the Hans Christian Anderson tale, "It's Absolutely True!" The story itself will always be classic, but the illustrations by Francois Crozat are absolutely fabulous! If any of you have this book, you'll know what I'm talking about. There's one illustration in particular that I adore . . . several naked hens standing together in a pile of feathers, with one chicken staring at her plucked tail with a classic "what's that?" look that I see in so many chicken's eyes. It's too bad it's out of print, because the newer versions simply do not compare.
So anyone else or their children have a particular favorite?
