I have been reading this tonight and looking for info on bare butts. I have gotten help, but then someone said we can not eat the eggs if it is sprayed with Blu-kote. I have 6 hens, and 5 have bare butts, I have a Speckled Sussex that doesn't have the problem......she is the 'lead' hen.
I have not sprayed them yet, so I need an answer so I can treat them.
Thank you! (got them last April, new to me. :)! )

Glad you have joined us.

Blu-Kote should not harm the eggs. Once it dries I think you will not see a transfer onto the shells. If you do see some staining on the shells, go ahead and use those without storing. There are warnings not to eat the meat of chickens who have been sprayed.

I assume you have examined and found no mites or lice. With one not being effected, then likely she is the feather picker.
