Week 8 is a milestone for the Fiesty Fifteen, they have started integration with their parent flock (minus 16 hens). We have seven adult flock members and one BO roo, dad to them all. They also began day free range time with the adult flock and met face-to-face with no barrier. They explored the main coop and the free range area, they are big enough now to be out with the adults. Beginning tomorrow they will be blocked from the run and small coop, forcing them to move away from their need and desire to be with our Cornish mom. She has pretty much adopted them even though they were 1 month old when she hatched her chicks, they bed down together and the Fifteen need to start roosting at night with the adults as the small coop is getting more crowded now. 06/21/15 - the Fiesty Fifteen are now integrated with their parent flock full time and are now sleeping in the main coop with the adults. They have taken to sleeping in the nest boxes and I will allow that for one week, they are still adjusting to roosting in a different coop. They started the first night of rather confused and wandering around in their holding pens, so I had to round them up and herd them into coop. Night two, half made it into the coop on their own, some got smart and are nesting in the upper nestboxes off the ground. The other half had to be herded up again and forced into the coop. They should have it down by tomorrow, all fingers crossed. O6-25-15 last night marked the first night that all of the Fiesty Fifteen put themselves to bed in the large coop last night, no need to round them up, yeah!
