Wu Farms Coop and Run

This is our first and hopefully only coop and run. We were going to shore up an old wood shed but it turned out to have almost nothing but wood rot. The hubby then took it all down and started fresh. He had to use cinder blocks and pea gravel to have a level spot for the coop. He created a level, raised floor and then used a 7x8 foot shed kit he bought online a number of years ago. The kit unfortunately had a lot of quirks which resulted in a lot of difficulty in keeping things squared off. My husband also had minimal experience building structures so ultimately we needed to call in a handyman. My husband had the bulk of the thing framed up but the handyman came in and finished out with a front entry door, a rear door that leads to the run, and skylight, a window for ventilation, the roof and walls as well as the run. The run was a tricky beast as we are on a slope and tried to keep the digging to a minimum. We laid hardware cloth in the ground and brought in extra dirt to cover it. we have a fully enclosed run since we do have a number of predators in our area. The handyman did mention that framing up from scratch would have been easier than using the kit. We used quite a bit of re-purposed products such as boards from a neighbors old workshop which the handyman cut tongue and groove to help with keeping the thing weather resistant, metal pieces and chicken wire from our property to help with the run and the interior. Inside, I wanted a storage area safe from the girls and a small pen for introducing new birds to the flock or keeping an injured girl near the others but protected from them. All in all, I am pretty happy with the end result
