Seven days into recovery; Nice and cozy. : )

She was tired of the two-inch-tall roost I had given her in her crate, and she did NOT wish to sleep on the floor, so I let her be up where she felt high, but was very safe. : )

Pillows were to make the shot pretty, but for everyday use, there was a vinyl tablecloth to protect the bed with towels on top of it for her to be on.

Fourteen days into recovery. The plug that was filling a deep puncture wound comes out. I was so excited to see her body taking care of something that had been so damaged that I hurried up and documented it. (I had been painting, hence the blue. : )

Seventeen days into recovery. Back in action! This was her first time having "evening wheat" with her ladies. She was allowed to roam freely with them from this day on, but didn't return to the hen house until almost exactly one month after "the day." That was the first time she was able to fly up on the roost by herself. After the whole recovery, she had more energy than I've ever seen from any of my chickens. Ran everywhere, sang for a long time over every egg, and was just generally vivacious. : )

Eleven days into recovery. Tiny stubble of feathers regrowing. Blew my mind that she could regrow feathers where skin had actually been EATEN off, but there's a chicken for you. Amazing.
