Wyandottes are beautiful too. You will need to hatch out some to start, then choose your best ones to use in your breeding program. There is a good explanation in an old Standard about how to choose mates to get the best feather patterns for the males and females. I hear that it is best to work on improving body type first, then work on the feathering.
@PEI chicken I've also been hearing about double mating to improve the males and then the females... I would like to show them someday so I will be trying to improve them and then trying to breed for the best coloured males and females at some point. I think this year may just have to be seeing how many chicks i can get to start making some well educated choices in the fall. More learning to do until then though!
