Ugly. 4'x5' coop w/5 nesting boxes & side clean out door. West wall and egg doors are wood, the remainder of the walls are double layers of fence wire with chick wire overlay. 6'x12'x6' chain link kennel run with chick wire lid. Run perimeter is lined with fence wire 1/2 in and 1/2 outside the kennel. Interior lined with cinder block bricks and run floor heaped w/straw. I used an old (red!) tent rain-fly and bent a couple sticks of 1/2" PVC to form a temporary outdoor shelter from the spring showers. The bamboo blind(s) will be used to shade the western exposure in summer but it does help to divert wind driven rain as well.

Easy exterior egg access... THANKS to BYC for inspiration!
Above the egg door (and covering the wire front & side walls) is shade cloth screen. We live in a hot climate and want to ensure ample airflow in the hot months ahead. The screen also breaks wind and diverts rain, keeping our wire walled coop high & dry in the spring storms. Later we will replace the summer shade screen with a winter skin to keep the wind & cold out and keep the girls toasty warm.
