  • What do you feed your birds? Right now the rooster I rescued is not yet ready to go outdoors to scratch for bugs. have him on Flock Raiser 20% protein and a few of the chicken snack foods that are at least 15% protein. Give him some meal worms but not too much as excess protein not good for kidneys. Also give him some cracked corn but not too much so he doesn't get fat.

    He really likes green grapes,
    Thanks!

I usually feed my birds scratch grains, and give them worms, minnows, biscuits, cornbread, cat food, or mealworms very sparingly as treats. They each have their favorites.

We also give them vegetable scraps when we cook. Most of the time they don't like green vegetables, but since yours isn't free-ranging right now he would probably enjoy them.

They all love tomatoes. They like to play with cucumbers and cabbage, but they never eat all of it and I end up having to throw them away.
    Thanks!
WOW, that's a lot of chicks! Hmm, maybe I ought to get a few, I LOVE chickens!!! :D
Awesome! And happy Easter to you too!
I like Sebrights, but if you ever decide to get some, be warned that they go broody ALL THE TIME. They're good at hiding, and the smallest batch of chicks my girls have hatched was 8, the largest batch was 15. When they hatched 15 she was sitting on 22 eggs. Anyway if you do get Sebrights be prepared for LOTS of chicks. ;)
I love my EE's, even though one of them HATES to be touched! Oh, what pretty breeds! I have always wanted Sebrights!! They are just so pretty!
I know, I love them. If they hatch, I'll send you tons of pictures! :)
I want an Easter Egger so bad! Maybe when I rehome these roos... Anyway I have 2 Sebright hens, a Serema/Sebright cross roo, a Brown Leghorn roo, 3 Brown Leghorn/Sebright cross roos, and a red hen who's breed I can't figure out. I had never heard of Ayam Cemani chickens before so I looked them up online. Dang those birds are gorgeous! I would love to see some pictures once they hatch.
