Thanks for trying to help! I'll do some cleaning tonight and call some places tomorrow. Now it seems unfortunate that it might not be worth it for any of us
Well, I was completely wrong. I just went to look more closely and asked my son to help get some pictures. The bone is broken and it's a pretty long sharp break. Quite a bit of loose muscle.
Ultimate question is should we put her out of her misery or is it worth my time tending to her wound.
We have a single hen that came with the run we bought from a friend a little over a week ago. This hen was a lone survivor of a dog attack. We don't have any other chickens or chicks right now...
Thank you all for your tips! So an update, I'm completely shocked that this chicken survived. I had basically given up. I did get the penicillin from tractor supply. Gave her a couple doses. It quickly helped the green skin go away. I didn't expect her skin directly under her wing to close back...
Two nights ago something got into our coop and killed one of our chickens. I later noticed that another one seemed injured. I took a look today and she has a significant puncture wound under her wing, in the thigh area. I'm planning to go separate her once I get my kids to bed. She is about 7...
They are turkeys!!! Tractor supply gave us turkey! I shared pics with a friend and did some image searches. I'm 99% sure the big yellow ones are turkeys 🤦♀️
We are also thinking that the little ones are isa brown
I'm brand new to chickens. I have 6 chicks who are 2 weeks old. (I don't know what breed they are) 3 are small brown and 3 are yellow. The yellow ones are now more than double the size of the brown ones! My concern (other than wondering if these yellow ones are actually meat birds) is that they...
We haven't built the coop yet! I know, we gotta get on that! We got our chicks from tractor supply. I've always wanted to have a small farm/homestead and to be more self-sufficient, but just making do with what we have! So, chickens and a garden it is!
Hey! I'm brand new to keeping chickens! We got our 6 chicks 1 week ago. That's the most we can have on our lot. I don't know what breeds we have. 3 are yellow and 3 are brown!
