My experience is that birds from the same hatch that were placed in a pen from young and grew up together in that pen can be in smaller spaces without problems than new birds that are introduced in new pens.

Do you have snakes in your area? I am in the Bahamas, I tried the wire bottom cages outside but little snakes came in and I used to find them in the morning...stuck in the cage...like a bicycle inner tube with ping pong balls in them... all my chicks gone..

In my area they dont sell it either. Do you still get regular eggs from your quail using the flock raiser? I was thinking of using it for my quail.

The problem with my home made incubator was that at night the temperature went down in the room and so did the temp in the incubator... it caused many sleepless nights watching the incubator... then in the morning the temp was too high... Eventually I bought a Brinsea Mini eco. Now I have one...

I miscalculated the days and I am on day 17 instead of day 14. The eggs have been in the eggturner all this time, I am reluctant to take the eggturner out at this stage! Will they hatch in the egg turner, did anyone ever hatch eggs in the turner?

I had the same idea and it failed too. I came to the conclusion that there was no access to air while the egg was in the plastic quail carton. If you check the eggturners they all have ventilation openings, they are not solid plastic "egg holders". So maybe cut some holes in the plastic quail...

All I know from my couple months of quail experience is that wet flooring = stinkness! lol

I have used 'hot water bottles" like in this video before, when I did some off-grid brooding. It actually worked quite fine.
