I just had to say we just tried the microwave potato method too - AMAZING! It definitely worked. We have bantys and silkies - didn't hurt the rooster, and it came out with my fingers just wiggling it for a few seconds. Highly recommend! Thanks for sharing the tip!!!

Okay, first egg in batch in incubator was hatching great yesterday, made its way 2/3rds around the egg in pecking and now this morning it seems to have stopped. I can see the tip of his beak sticking out, but no movement. Did something go wrong? Anything I can do?

I went out and put a smaller cardboard box in the coop and I put them inside. They seem to like that. I put the food and water inbetween them and where the mama seems to be nesting. I hope this helps. I suppose if the mama kept being mean I could bring her an baby inside.
