I was thinking austorlorp also because of the sheen in the feathers. My brother in law is in charge of animal control so unclaimed chickens come our way....that's why the pics r a little hard to see, good enough to make out if it's urs....

we have a rooster in with our hens, mostly for his looks and to help protect them. I now he does his thing with them, but we collect eggs every day and put them in the frig. I often see the little conception blood spot, but want to make sure i am doing everything right to keep from cracking...
This is our little rescue girl....found by animal control on the stroll....she is our only american game, and when i came home this morning i found this in the nesting box....could this be her first little egg or did someone else have a mishap?

I have 10 chickens right now. 1 rir, 2 br, 2 americaunas, 2 black australorps, and 3 red sex links. Time of year and some lt molting has me down to 5 eggs/day, along with australorps being around 20 weeks and not laying yet.....one is sitting a lot lately, so, hopefully......
