I figured out what had happened. We had a Light Brahma rooster that would wait until Roo went to preform his roosterly duties then peck at his head and face while he was distracted. The whole flock has been doing a LOT better since the Brahma had his close encounter with a crock pot.

Hatched on 8/1/17. Needs new home or is destined for the stew pot.

Would there happen to be anyone in Maine or New Hampshire that would be interested in an Americana rooster?

We actually managed to get almost the exact ratio that we shot for. We got one of each rooster and one bantam rooster. We have Buddy the Light Brahma, Chip the Silver Duck Wing Old English Game Bantam, and Roo the Australorp. Chip is actually the best one of the three. Buddy is just kinda there...
