Accidentally stepped on my chicken yesterday

We've got 14 in our flock and I've stepped on one here and there! It happens. Just gotta be as careful as can be but the darn things are so quiet when they huddle next to you! Usually all 14 come running at me because they know I've got scraps for them!! Lol. Sounds like your chicken is doing...

Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

I MUST have a cup in the morning or I'm no good to anyone for the whole day! I prefer the McDonald's coffee! We can pick up a can for $16 and it lasts a month!! So delicious!!!!

    Canadians check in here....

Absolutely have your laying box inside. Most chickens will naturally lay inside the coop anyways. As for the cold, in Ontario here our friends stick to keeping them inside the coop 24/7. Especially on cold months. I.e Jan,Feb. As for preventing frozen eggs..good luck!! If your hens are layers...

    New Chicken mom

Red Sex Link is a wonderful laying breed! They are egg making machines and will often lay 1 nice large brown egg a day!! We have 14 RSL and absolutely love them!! As for digging down, we went about 8 inches down and placed a piece of 2x6 across and just below the lower support beam for our...

Thanks so much for the feedback!! Everyone here is right! Black bears are unpredictable and sometimes very dangerous!! Its interesting because there have been a number of black bear attacks up here in Canada this spring. The bear struck again last night. He's very aggressive to get in the...

    Bear Attack!

It's going to get a 303 slug in it tonite! @ chickengeorgeto, black bears up here don't attack humans much at all. They are skittish beggars. More scavengers and night poachers mostly. I'd have to respectfully disagree with you that they stalk and kill humans. I just don't see that.

    Bear Attack!

Hi all! It's 1030 pm here and she just struck again!! This time I saw her! Looks like a yearling black bear! By the time we got the gun she was gone. And some of you are right! She's after the chicken feed!!! She took a crap and it was all the feed she ate last night!!! The feed bin was open...

    Runaway Rooster

Honestly if he keeps attacking your brood, I'd shoot it. I may be a little old fashioned, but when it comes to your flock I'd do whatever it takes to keep them safe. Sounds like your neighbours don't really seem to care. The alternative would be to call your local bylaw enforcement office...

    Bear Attack!

Hey all! This morning I darn near had a stroke! I'm walking outside to open the chicken coop for the day and I notice 2 hens walking around the yard??!!? As I close in on the front door I notice that it's been shredded!! Claw marks everywhere, lumber pulled down and the door broken!! Here's...
