This is a tough one. It looks a little smaller than the cochin. The wing feathers coming in look buff in color. I am having a difficult time with this. What type of comb does it have? More help with identifying, anyone?
Let me know what you think. I hope he is a brahma. I have compared my rooster to other pics I have found, and he nearly matches. I have compiled the pics so others can compare. I only own the photo of my rooster.
Its ok to worry. If I have any problems, I ask too. I have been incubating my hens' eggs for a few years now in my cheap little incubator, and have just about seen everything. Total, I have hatched over 100 chicks, though not a lot compared to others. My favorite part about new babies is the...
Old English games can have dark or light slate gray legs. A little variation is normal. Here is a pic of mine from last year. Probably close to the same age

I wouldn't advise to open an unpipped egg, unless it was chirping loudly. When you do though, starting from the air cell end is good. When you see blood, that means stop, and leave it alone. I'm not sure how long it takes for the membrane to dry, but if you do help a pipping egg, break the...

A few questions...
Are the legs fluffy, or have feathers?
How many toes does it have?
Is there a poof on its head?
What color are the feet?
What type of comb does it have (pea, single, etc?)
If you answer these, it will be easy to identify it. Thank you.
I ordered from the same hatchery last year and got a free chick too. Mine turned out to be a bb red old english game bantam. Is it a bantam, or standard? Let me know, I have some ideas. I can check the chicks in my catalog for you.
I do think he has some Brahma in him. The color matches for a Nankin, but there wouldn't be any in my area. It is such an ornamental breed. Thank you for the opinion.
