Question about French Guineas from JM Hatchery

Hey folks, so I found this article about French guinea fowl being artificially inseminated. (source) Guineas only mate in spring and so raising keets all year long (like the folks at guinea fowl now do) requires artificial insemination. So hatcheries use AI but free ranging French guinea fowl...

    Thinking about getting Guineas

Invest in a quality .22 rifle and plink those predators off. My dad always said shoot, shovel, and shut up. Then follow these tips (link) to help keep the guinea fowl around the farm. Some hatcheries offer pinioning as keets so the guinea is permanently prevented from flying well. You can also...

    Where to buy affordable keets?

I think guineafowlnow has a minimum order of 15 from April 1 to October 31. They ship everywhere except Hawaii. They only sell French guineas however. They claim free ranging French guinea fowl can reproduce just fine. It's really hard to tell males from females and guinea fowl are monogamous so...

Chicken breeds that are not gmo?

I have found a hatchery that has several GMO free breeds. The breeder flock is fed non-GMO feed. They have New Hampshires, Delawares, Freedom Rangers, & Rhode Island Reds for sale. There is no chicken breed that is made in a laboratory. All breeds came from the domestication of wild fowl so...

Red Sex Links or Black Sex Links?

Our family really likes the Novogen red sex links. They are quite intelligent and do far better at foraging than the ISA Browns. A couple hatcheries sell them. We got them from here by mail order. I haven't kept track to see if they live up to the claims as far as performance though.

    NOVOgen Brown Egg Layer

Found a hatchery that sells them here. It looks like an attempt to get a more free range savvy red sex link. Any one have experience with them?

    Freedom Ranger Hatchery??

I found a site that sells what they call a "Standard" Freedom Ranger broiler. They also have the GMO Free and Black Freedom Rangers as well. Here's that link

Where to buy mail order chicks?

It depends what breed you're looking for. Meyers, efowl.com, purelypoultry.com has a lot of selection or a smaller outfit like mailorderpoultry.com or jmhatchery has only a couple breeds but are usually more personal.
