Upon further inspection, she has a kind of messy bum. I can't tell if it's dried eggness or poops, but it is yellow and white and there is some yellow mess around her vent.
I have a 2-year-old production red hen. She has been setting in the nest box a lot but there are never eggs in that box. This has been going on a couple of weeks. Today they were in all day, they usually free range, and when I went to let them out for a while this evening, she was still on the...
So, I broke down and got some feed store chicks that were labeled golden sex link, like the ones I got last year. Great. Except now they are feathering out and don't look the same as my current flock did at that age. I think they might be white egg layers, but not sure. Can you tell by earlobe...

Well, I have 7 hens and 2 of them are about a year and a half, so instead of getting 7 eggs a day I consistently get only 6...yes, 6 eggs from 7 chickens is not acceptable...so I bought 6 new pullet chicks.
Take a picture of it, post it on FB, tell the world, drive your family nuts showing it to them every 5 seconds, then eat it and tell everybody how yummy it was.
My poor hens are looking a little scraggly these days, too. I have 7 hens with 1 roo. You can tell who his favorites are, poor things. He is about to get his spurs trimmed, so I might have to look into doing his toenails as well.
Wow, cackle hatchery has some major shipping costs!
Well, been checking. Shipping on baby chicks has gone way up since the last time I ordered any. I might just have to look around more locally. :/
I would wait and see if any issues arise before neutering. We have had had unmodified males with no problems. A lot of times spraying will come if there are other rabbits or animals in the home, so if he is your only one it might not ever become an problem. If he does start acting up, you can...
Maybe you could find another farm or rural property to rent. I would keep looking. Hopefully the perfect place will pop up. You might even be able to just rent a space to keep your rabbits.
Has anyone tried fodder with the FRs? I am going to try to start feeding some fodder for my layers and my rabbits, I wonder if I should think about growing fodder on a much larger scale for my meat birds when I get them.
This is what I was going to point out...it could just be a meat spot, or extra chalaza(? I think that's what it's called), the white stuff attached to the yolk. If you just heard it from a buyer, they might not know what they are looking at.
I start transitioning mine outside in a small run as soon as they can' fit through the holes in the run wire and it's warm enough outside to not worry about temperature. I just take them out for a while to give them some fresh air and sunshine and let them pick at some grass. I have to stay...
