Is the Mum still with them? We did this and I kept the babies and the Mum together till I could put them all back with the flock so she would protect them.

Too funny, I called one of mine Mork (as I taped him/her hatching for my blog and compared it to Mork from Ork) turns out she is now being called Morque cause her counterpart sister is Mindy. My fave little yellow one I called Chaquita is a roo, but I still am calling him Chaquita...Hugs, Di

Glad I could help, you have all taught me so much here. I have learned a lot from Lisa over at the Fresh Eggs Daily blog. http://fresh-eggs-daily.blogspot.com/ - also she has give aways all the time, I think right now there is a giveaway of a Skelter I think it is called. I believe the recipe...

Do you all follow the blog: Fresh Eggs Daily? Lisa has a great recipe on there that I feed our girls and they love it, it is a mixture of this and that. Hugs, Di

I am not sure of the first one, looks like our Barnevelder but she didn't have feathery feet, the beautiful white one is a light brahma, like our Fiji and she is my favorite, she is so tame and would live in the house if I could potty train her. Good luck with the broody hen, when Alice did this...

I know the first chicks that we had our broody hen hatch I am pretty sure 4 out of the 6 are roos, not super odds, so we are not headed to Vegas. They are only 13 weeks old so still not sure on a couple. Maybe you can find a nice home for him so you don't have to put him on the dinner table. ~Di

    Fun Yard Pic

After I did my chores this morning I took a panoramic pic, the girls (and boys) are enjoying the cooler weather. Still waiting to see what the little black silkies are, but pretty sure 2 out of the three yellow babies are roosters. ~Di

We lost our Gertie this year and she was a barnevelder and it was a respatory thing and I was the same way asking the what ifs, but she died in my arms too and had to feel good that she was not alone, so you did all you could and she died knowing she was loved cause you were with her.
